Thing 2

January25

So thing 2 was about setting up an iGoogle page. As soon as I logged in, what I needed to do seemed straight forward enough . It was fun testing out the gadgets. There were some that I initially thought would be quite interesting, but turned out to be disappointing; for example some of the optical illusion ones. I am happy with my hamster though :D

Once i’d selected the gadgets I wanted the layout was still all over the place, so I did need to move the gadgets around until they seemed to fit well together on the page. But it wasn’t until I changed the theme of my page that it really put everything into place.

I didn’t realise how useful an iGoogle page could be for me, until I did this exercise. But now I can see myself using it quite often.

Wow Henna – your site has such a lovely background! What a shame I can’t see it via RSS. Good luck with 23 Things!

    Henna,

    Your blog looks great!

It puts mine to shame! However, it seems I might just learn a thing or two from looking at the blogs by you and M.

    Hello Henna,
I love your blog template! I tried to download one that I found via a google search for templates but failed.
Any tips on how to do this? to share with me and other 23 things participants?
    Thanks

@ Laura: thanks Laura! Hmm, I wonder why it won’t allow you to see it via RSS. I’ve had a look at my personal settings to see if there was any problem, but couldn’t find any. Maybe a theme issue?

@ Kmf: Awww I have to admit though, you have a much better blog name and more informative ;) and yes you might learn a few things from Masud, but probably not from me lol.

@ Jane: Ok firstly, do you have a blog on WordPress or Blogger? It was easier for me because my husband and I already bought our hosting for our personal site, which came with WordPress already installed. So all I had to do was find the template I wanted and then download and upload it to my own site. After that, you just select the theme under the ‘appearance’ setting and hope that it works!

@ Masud: hangman is still there, just moved it a little lower on the page :D aww thanks… Your blog is ‘pretty’ too :P

Jane – you can get templates for Blogger just like for WordPress. Once you’ve downloaded the template that you want, you install it to Blogger by clicking on ‘edit HTML’ under the ‘layout’ tab. A good site I’ve used in the past for blogger templates is btemplates.com.

I am changing my theme now just because you are not getting off the ‘pretty’ thing :P

Your Comment:

Hi my name is Henna and I currently work at the Social Science Library. I have just recently moved to Oxford and I am enjoying it here so far.

I studied Psychology at university and hope to specialise in Educational Psychology in future. I also have an interest in teaching the subject too.

I look forward to following other ’23 things’ bloggers and learning from their experiences.
